Quotient Bioscience, a leading provider of analytical and safety evaluation services and products for bioscience and sport, was founded in early 2007 by Paul Cowan, the former Chief Financial Officer of Inveresk Research Group, Inc. Paul left Inveresk Research in 2004 following its sale to Charles River Laboratories for approximately $1.5 billion. The principal investors in Quotient Bioscience are Paul Cowan, property companies Helical Bar plc and Dencora Estates and management and employees.

Quotient Bioscience has recently reorganised under three principal businesses – Quotient Bioresearch, HFL Sports Science and Alba Bioscience.

Following the recent acquisitions of BioDynamics Research Limited, HFL Limited and GR Micro Limited, Quotient Bioscience has now consolidated its drug development services businesses under the name Quotient Bioresearch. Quotient Bioresearch provides a broad range of analytical and safety evaluation services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. With over 240 employees, Quotient Bioresearch has operations based in Newmarket, Rushden and London, making it one of the leading companies of its type in the UK. Customers of Quotient Bioresearch include many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies

HFL Sports Science is a world leader in the provision of forensic quality drug surveillance services. It is also a world leader in research into the detection of banned substances.

Alba Bioscience is a world leader in the manufacture and sale of monoclonal antibody based reagents and other reagents used for blood typing and screening.
